Lisa Vanderpump isn’t opening up about why she skipped Scheana Shay’s wedding

In case you missed it, everyone’s favorite waitress, Scheana Shay, has gotten married. On August 24, Shay finally said “yes” to her longtime boyfriend and father of her child, Brock Davies. The couple married in an intimate ceremony in Mexico. “They had everything I wanted: the glass deck over the pool, a lazy river, a little water park,” Shay told People of the resort, where she got married. “It was family friendly and just felt right. We needed something it would be good for [our daughter] and fun for our guests.”

Shay and Davies’ daughter, Summer Moon, acted as the flower girl. The presence of friends and family was paramount to Shay, who explained that she wanted the wedding to be as special as possible for Davies and his Australian family. Shay also made sure she was close to them as well. “I just wanted us to have a good time with every person we care about,” she said. The pair were joined by most of the Vanderpump Rules cast members, including Ariana Maddix, Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. Shay even walked down the aisle to a custom mix by James Kennedy.

One person notably absent was Shay’s boss and “VPR” matriarch Lisa Vanderpump. When questioned about her absence, Vanderpump didn’t mince words as to why she wasn’t there.

Lisa Vanderpump celebrated Scheana in her own way

Lisa Vanderpump might not have attended Scheana Shay’s wedding in Cancun, but she wasn’t suffering from FOMO. When asked why she skipped the big day, Vanderpump reportedly said she “already went to a wedding for Scheana, and that was enough,” per Hollywood Life, likely referring to Shay tying the knot in 2014 Has. A little close maybe, but Vanderpump still made sure to celebrate Shay in her own way.

Vanderrump didn’t feel like traveling to Cancun, so instead threw Shay a pre-wedding party at her palatial home in the Hollywood Hills (pictured above), per E! News. Vanderpump treated the party guests, which included most of the cast of “Vanderpump Rules,” to a sumptuous pink cake and decadent hors d’oeuvres. While Vanderpump wanted to make sure Shay felt celebrated — even if she couldn’t do the ceremony — the same cannot be said of some of Shay’s former castmates.

Stassi Schröder was conspicuously absent from both parties. Schroeder and Shay have always had a checkered friendship, but things reportedly took a turn this year when Shay had Brittany Cartwright on her podcast to open up about her ongoing feud with Schroeder. Shay hoped the appearance would help smooth things over, but it did the opposite. “We didn’t do it maliciously or to talk shit. And then the backlash was like that, it wasn’t even the intention,” Shay told Us Weekly of the disastrous interview. “It backfired on us.”
