Insiders slammed Barbie Ferreira’s attitude on set amid her euphoric exit

Barbie Ferreira is an American actress best known for playing Kat Hernandez on HBO’s critically acclaimed series Euphoria, a role she has held since it premiered in 2019. However, things have changed on the show, as on Aug. 24, Ferreira announced that she would not be returning for the show’s third season, much to the sadness of many fans. She wrote on an Instagram story: “After four years of portraying the very special and enigmatic character Kat, I have to say goodbye with tears in my eyes. I hope many of you were able to see her as I did, and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today.”

Some speculated that this could be due to on-set tensions between her and creator and showrunner Sam Levinson; In fact, the Daily Beast reported in February that Ferreira had stormed off set at least twice.

Now, an insider close to the situation has confirmed the reasons behind Ferreira’s departure, criticizing her and other cast members for their attitude on set, while also adding some context to the rumors of her abrupt departure.

Barbie Ferreira was reportedly unable to handle Sam Levinson’s instructions

On Aug. 25, an anonymous insider who spent nine months on the set of “Euphoria” season 2 spoke to radio host Zach Sang about Barbie Ferreira’s shocking departure from the show. “She just had a lot of issues with Sam,” the insider said, referring to Sam Levinson, the show’s writer, principal director and showrunner. “Sam is a very specific kind of director, and Barbie… just couldn’t take the heat in the kitchen!”

The source then criticized both Ferreira and Levinson, saying Levinson often made the cast “cry” to “get the emotion out of them while they were on set.” Apparently it felt like a “disaster” on set. Ferreira, on the other hand, did not seem to clean up after her cat, which she brought to work, and often entered and soiled people’s trailers. He added that Ferreira also has an “attitude,” saying that she and others have developed severely inflated egos after starring on such a hit HBO show at such a young age. After all, according to Variety, Euphoria has become one of the most-watched shows on the network since 2004, trailing only Game of Thrones.

“They think they are all of that and forget that this is a job,” the insider said. “Push your ego outside and keep it outside.” The insider also teased that there would be “more surprises” ahead of Season 3’s release. “Oh darling, I know they’re coming,” he said. “Things are coming and things will happen. I think there will be a lot of changes this season.”
