How Camila Cabello Makes the Most of Her Diagnosis

Celebrities often seem immune to the day-to-day problems that “normal” people face. Just recently, the Daily Mail reported on Kylie Jenner’s decision to take a 12-minute ride in her private jet to avoid the hassle of a 39-minute drive. Headlines like this make it easy to feel like the rich and powerful are their own species.

But even the biggest A-listers can’t avoid health problems. Celebrities struggling personally often use their platforms to spread awareness and hope. Billie Eilish, for example, recently opened up to David Letterman about living with Tourette’s Syndrome. And in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve just gained further proof that celebrities are just like us. When CNN announced in early March 2020 that Tom Hanks had contracted the virus, it was a wake-up call for many.

Though many have resumed pre-pandemic activities, high-profile cases of the disease continue to remind us that the fight goes on. Camila Cabello is the latest to share that she’s been diagnosed with COVID-19… but she’s taking it in stride.

Camila Cabello announced her COVID diagnosis in the most optimistic way

Between her split from longtime partner Shawn Mendes and her recent COVID diagnosis, Camila Cabello doesn’t seem to be able to take a break. Luckily she doesn’t seem to mind. The “Havana” singer decided to do what we all did when we were stuck in isolation: go on TikTok.

She posted a video of herself dancing around her room with various medications and cough drops while singing along to Pitbull’s song “Watagatapitusberry” with Sensato del Patio, Black Point, El Cata and Lil Jon. Cabello’s high energy would suggest she was the picture of health, but her caption made things clearer: “I have the Rona.” She later posted the video to Page Six on her Instagram Stories, writing, “If you die Rona and still living it out in isolation, make some noise.”

Fans wished the singer well while expressing shock at her good mood. “She has so much energy lol,” one tweeted. “I could barely move when I had Covid without throwing up.” Other were happy to have something in common with the artist: “My biggest flex is being covid at the same time as Fav @camila_cabello lol.” I wish Camila (and her fan) a speedy recovery!
