Here’s how to watch the 2022 MTV VMAs

One of the biggest music nights is just around the corner. It’s almost time for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, and we’ve got the news for you to tune in to.

Fans have always looked forward to the VMAs, and this year is no exception. After all, a handful of music’s most iconic moments happened during this awards show, including the infamous Kanye “Ye” West-Taylor Swift moment, Britney Spears and Madonna kissing, Miley Cyrus’ twerk performance, Lady Gaga’s meat dress, and this one Ye announced that he would run for President of the United States. It’s been a while since anything controversial happened on stage at the VMAs, so will 2022 be the year the drought ends?

We guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled to find out if something as exciting would follow. The good news is that there are plenty of ways to stream the highly anticipated awards show, and you don’t necessarily need to own a TV to watch it.

You can watch the 2022 VMAs over cable or online

There are tons of ways to watch the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. If you happen to still have a TV in 2022, you can catch the August 28th 8pm ET telecast on a variety of channels: MTV, The CW, BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon , Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1 (per Rolling Stone). But if you’ve cut the cord, you can stream the show on Hulu+ Live TV and YouTube TV. Streaming pros know that these streaming sites almost always offer free trials, so you can pretty much hack it if you don’t mind jumping through extra hoops.

In case you don’t want to miss out or just want to know what your favorite pop stars are wearing, you can tune in to the pre-show, which airs in real time from 6:30 pm, per variety. It will also be available on MTV’s official Twitter page at 6:15 p.m., where you can catch up on red carpet fashion (who’s wearing whom?) and nominee reviews.

What to expect at the 2022 MTV VMAs

MTV has plenty of surprises in store for the 2022 VMAs, starting with the hosts. This year there will be three presenters: LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. It might seem like a random bunch, but whatever gets you viewers, right? According to MTV, they will be taking “a new and unique approach to the traditional ‘host’ gig of years past,” so it would be interesting to see exactly how this year’s hosting would differ.

USA Today also notes that viewers can expect performances from today’s hottest stars including Lizzo, Måneskin, Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, Panic! At the disco, Kane Brown and K-pop superstars BLACKPINK. Who will take home a Moon Man? Your guess is as good as ours! Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar each picked up seven nominations, while Doja Cat and Harry Styles had six.

With the VMAs being voted primarily by fans, it’s up to you to decide who gets to win the coveted Moon Man Award. Visit this page to cast your vote!
